According to the agency, the first batch of one of the drugs in the new year, including more than 6 thousand packages, has already arrived in Tashkent. According to the Uzbek Ministry of Health, they will be distributed among patients after treatment at the Virology Research Institute.
The supply of medicines from Egypt is carried out as part of the implementation of the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan. To date, $696 thousand worth of hepatitis medicines have already been delivered to the Central Asian republic.
An agreement on cooperation in the field of healthcare between Uzbekistan and Egypt was signed by the presidents of the two countries in February 2023 during the visit of Uzbek leader Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Cairo.
