Annual inflation in Georgia is at an eight-year low

Caucasus (bbabo.net), - Annual inflation in Georgia, as of January 2024, turned out to be zero and is at an eight-year low, the National Statistics Service reported.

Such a low level of inflation has not been observed in the country since October 2016.

Prices have increased the most over the year:

for transport - 4.3%;

hotels, cafes, restaurants - 5.9%;

tobacco and alcoholic beverages - 3.5%;

education - 3.5%;

other goods and services - 9.2%.

Prices have decreased by:

food and non-alcoholic drinks - 2.4%;

healthcare - 3.3%;

utilities -1.8%;

recreation, entertainment, culture - 2.4%;

furniture, household utensils, home care - 4.3%;

communication - 2.2%.

The comparison, the Georgia News portal clarifies, in this case is with January 2023, after a jump in prices for almost everything, inflation then was 13%.
