Greater Middle East (bbabo.net), - A US military team recently arrived in Israel to provide security assistance during the inspection of humanitarian aid in Gaza, Al-Sharq Al-Awsat reported, citing Israeli media.
It is noted that the Israeli government is discussing several proposals, including the delivery of goods for Gaza directly to the strip by Cypriot ships, provided that the content of the aid will be checked before arriving in the strip, the Arab publication notes.
“It is not yet clear whether the Americans will take on the task of verifying humanitarian aid before it reaches Gaza,” the Israel Broadcasting Corporation (ITRK) said.
As you know, Hamas is accused of illegally trafficking in humanitarian aid, noting that 60% of what enters the sector every day “falls into the hands of militants,” Al-Sharq Al-Awsat emphasizes.
“Hamas was able to make a profit of more than $130 million as a result of the illicit trafficking of this aid,” ITRC added.
According to the Corporation, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued instructions to resolve the problem and prevent aid from flowing to Hamas, trying to create a “bypass” that will prevent the group from taking it over, Al-Sharq Al-Awsat reported.
