Asia (bbabo.net), - President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko called Uzbekistan the main country in Central Asia. Sputnik Uzbekistan reports this.
According to the agency, the Belarusian leader made such a statement at an expanded meeting of representatives of Uzbekistan and Belarus held in Tashkent with the participation of the heads of the two states.
“We are pleased that our brotherly republic - Uzbekistan - is developing intensively. We are interested in the development of Uzbekistan because we took your country as a basis in Central Asia,” Lukashenko said.
The Belarusian leader noted that the current trade turnover between Belarus and Uzbekistan (about $600 million) does not correspond to the existing potential, saying that in the next year and a half it should reach $1 billion.
