Ukraine (bbabo.net), - Ukraine should become a buffer zone between Russia and the West. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated this in an interview with former Austrian Chancellor Wolfgang Schüssel for the magazine “European Voices,” the newspaper Die Presse reports.
“Whether we like it or not, whether Ukrainians like it or not, Ukraine is where it is on the map. Its best prospect would be to create a buffer zone between Russia and the West,” Orban said, as quoted by Die Presse.
If Ukraine does not agree with this option, the country will lose statehood, the Hungarian prime minister noted.
In general, “in controversial debates” with the former Chancellor of Austria, Viktor Orban spoke out against Ukraine’s entry into the EU or NATO and outlined his ideas for the European Union, the publication writes.
As bbabo.net reported, Hungary will never take part in any actions related to the supply of weapons to Ukraine, the country's Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The minister said that during negotiations with the EU regarding the allocation of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 50 billion euros, Budapest had several preconditions. “First of all, this money should not cover any arms supplies,” Szijjarto said.
