Residents of Dreilini are going to hold a protest against the waste incineration plant project in the Ropaži region, which is being promoted by SIA Vides resursu centrs.
Residents have previously protested against the plant. They managed to collect 11 thousand signatures against the construction, which is more than enough for the Seimas to consider the initiative.
In addition, more than a thousand applications from residents were submitted to the Ropaz City Council with a request to cancel the start of the development of the local plan. Then, under pressure from residents, deputies of the Ropaz City Council suspended the development of the project by voting, but did not completely abandon the idea of construction. As a result, the project was continued.
After this, residents of Dreilini sent a letter to the president, prime minister, mayor of the capital and other officials asking them to stop the project. The letter states that the work of the plant will affect residents not only of Dreilini, but also of other areas where more than 110 thousand people live.
Formally, the company plans to build a cogeneration station to produce electricity, but 200 garbage trucks with household waste will be delivered to it as fuel per day.
