Russia (bbabo.net). Conscientious implementation of the Minsk agreements by Kiev was the only chance to return peace to Ukraine. This was stated by Russia's permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya at a meeting of the organization's Security Council, writes TASS.
“Kiev’s conscientious and consistent implementation of the Minsk agreements was the only chance to return peace to Ukraine. For a settlement, a direct, inclusive and mutually respectful dialogue between the parties to the conflict - Donetsk, Lugansk and Kiev, as was provided for in the agreements, was first of all necessary,” noted Vasily Nebenzya .
According to him, Kyiv got away with everything, Western countries could not find the strength to admit that Ukraine sabotaged the implementation of the Minsk agreements. “But they, and you in this room, like a mantra, repeated absolutely baseless allegations that the Minsk agreements were allegedly not being fulfilled by Russia, which did not bear any obligations under the set of measures, and all attempts to shift responsibility to Russia and make it out to be a party to the conflict were absolutely untenable,” the permanent representative said.
Today, thanks to the revelations of former leaders of Germany and France Angela Merkel, Francois Hollande and former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, it is reliably known that neither Kyiv nor the Minsk guarantors were going to fulfill the agreements, cynically using the resulting respite to arm the Ukrainian army. In this, according to the permanent representative, they were played along by individual representatives of the OSCE special monitoring mission, who, instead of monitoring the ceasefire, actually spied in favor of Kyiv.
In addition, the West hoped that with the help of the “neo-Nazi and Russophobic monster” represented by the Kyiv regime it could weaken Russia. “Today we must also acknowledge the failure of prevention in the work of the Security Council, the importance of which many of our Western colleagues so like to talk about. After all, they all understood perfectly well what was actually happening and what it could lead to, but did nothing, hoping that the neo-Nazi and Russophobic monster they have raised on our borders will be able to defeat or at least significantly weaken Russia,” the diplomat noted.
Vasily Nebenzya also recalled that after the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, the West did not allow Kyiv to sign the peace treaty initialed in Istanbul. “So they are accomplices in the tragedy and are fully responsible for the consequences of reckless and fatal actions for Ukraine to sabotage Minsk and abandon the agreements in Istanbul,” he noted.
