Pastures will no longer be free in Kazakhstan

Asia (bbabo.net), - Kazakhstan plans to ban the free use of pastures for grazing. The corresponding bill was approved in the first reading by the Senate of the republic, reports Sputnik Kazakhstan

According to the agency, amendments are being made to the new law to expand the powers of local executive bodies of the region to develop and approve action plans to combat degradation and desertification of pastures, as well as watering of pastures.

It is also proposed to reduce the area of unused pastures by increasing the number of livestock required for grazing from 20% to 50% of the normal load.

According to the law, it is prohibited to transfer pastures to other types of agricultural land to meet the needs of the population.

In addition, now forestry and environmental institutions will annually report to local akimats on areas where haymaking and grazing are possible. And maslikhats (local legislative assemblies) will approve a plan for the use of pastures for 5 years.
