The Hungarian parliament elected a new president

February 26, (bbabo.net). The Hungarian Parliament elected a new head of state - Tamas Szuyok, who recently served as Chairman of the Constitutional Court. TASS reports about this.

Šujok will replace Katalin Nowak as president, who resigned due to a scandal involving the pardon of a man involved in a pedophilia crime.

The election of a new head of state took place on the first day of the spring session. The candidacy of 67-year-old Tamás Šujok was put forward by a coalition of the ruling Fidesz-Hungarian Civil Union parties and their junior partners, the Christian Democrats. During the voting, all pro-government deputies came out in support of Shuyok, which ensured his victory in the first round.
