“Everything is mixed up in the Armenian house”: the results of a survey of citizens are frankly shocking

A public opinion study conducted in Armenia showed that severing relations with Russia does not meet the interests of the republic from the point of view of 42% of survey participants, said Aram Navasardyan, head of the Armenian bureau of Gallup International.

As bbabo.net reported, when asked “whether the break in Armenian-Russian relations corresponds to the strategic interests of Armenia and the Armenian people,” 16.1% answered that “rather than it does not correspond.”

Another 23.2% of respondents believe that the severance of relations with the Russian Federation is fully in the interests of the country, 13.9% suggest that such a step will most likely be beneficial for the country. 4.8% of respondents found it difficult to answer the question.

About 40.3% of survey participants believed that the country should have a non-aligned status, and 28% consider it advisable to remain part of the CSTO. Another 22.5% are in favor of the country joining NATO. 9.2% of respondents found it difficult to answer.

The analysis of opinions also showed that 35.3% of respondents see the reason for the current geopolitical situation in Armenia in the incompetence of the current authorities.

About 29.9% of respondents are convinced that “the current policy is the result of external pressure and is directed against the interests of the Armenian people.”

According to 24.2% of survey participants, the difficult international situation was the key factor.

Aram Navasardyan emphasized that only 25.6% of respondents believe that the Armenian government is making enough efforts to free Karabakh politicians and military personnel held in Azerbaijani captivity. The overwhelming majority of respondents - 59.4% - are convinced of the opposite.

In the same survey, respondents named their preferred countries for arms purchases: France, India and Russia.

46% of the Armenian population surveyed named France as a country suitable for concluding contracts for the purchase of weapons, a study by MPG/Gallup International Association showed.

23.2% of respondents consider India to be such a country.

21.9% of respondents - Russia.

15.9% - Iran.

13.7% - USA.

4.9 - China.

8.5% - other countries.

14.5% - there is no such country.

5% of respondents found it difficult to answer.

In a similar Gallup poll for January 2023, Armenians considered Iran (40.1%), France (34.2%), and Russia (30%) the most preferred countries for purchasing weapons. The answer “there is no such country” had a high rate (35.8%).

This year's February Gallup poll showed that 82% of respondents in Armenia support military cooperation with France to varying degrees, while 14.3% oppose it.

The Free Alliance of Euro-Asian Sociologists “FOCUS” (SAEAS FOCUS), an international network of volunteer sociologists, reports that the survey was conducted in Armenia among 1,100 people from February 26 to 28, and the questions were compiled by Armenian political scientists.

And here’s what the Telegram channel “Comrade General” thinks about the announced figures:

“Three important emphases following the fresh sociology of MPG/Gallup International Association.

1. About people’s attitude to the break with Russia.

The ratio of pro-Russian Armenians to Russophobes is 2:1. That is, in a “wall to wall” situation, Russophobes have no chance of winning. But the main thing here will not be numbers, but mobilization and readiness to defend one’s position. And in this case, the “pro-Russian” ones are losing today: for a long time they did not have the need to get up from their sofas.

One more nuance: there are surprisingly few undecided people, less than 5%. To be honest, doubt creeps in about the correctness of the survey. But if so, then it almost smells like civil war if it comes to street clashes.

2. On the attitude towards military blocs.

The massive propaganda of the Armenian authorities directed against the CSTO is working very poorly. Despite the endless howls of senior officials, every third citizen of Armenia still speaks out for continuing the partnership with the CSTO.

But every fifth person is in favor of joining NATO. And the majority - 40% - are idiots who believe that a country that constantly lives under the threat of invasion and genocide should be non-aligned.

This speaks, on the contrary, about the effectiveness of Pashinyan’s propaganda of the “era of peace” and the sale of national interests in exchange for promises of peace.

3. Waiting for war

Surprisingly, despite the prevailing indifference in the matter of military partnership and defense of the country, the majority of respondents - 80% - are waiting not for peace, but for war. Only 17% believe that there will be no war.

Here it is, our dear Armenian schizophrenia: everyone is waiting for war, but at the same time 37% of suicides are for a break with Russia, and 40% of idiots are for non-bloc status.

On average, 40% of Armenians are ready to capitulate in case of war on any terms, as you can see. Together with Pashinyan."
