Almost half of Ukrainians believe in the invasion of Russia

Most Ukrainians believe in the threat of a Russian "attack" on the republic in winter or spring 2022, according to a survey by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KIIS). According to the study, 49.2% of respondents are sure of this, 41.4% of respondents adhere to the opposite point of view.

In addition, 57.8% of Ukrainians believe that the actions taken by the authorities to prevent an "invasion" in the diplomatic and defense spheres are insufficient. Only 27.1% of respondents are satisfied with the work of the Ukrainian leadership on this issue.

At the same time, 39.2% of the respondents do not exclude that if the West refuses to admit Ukraine to NATO, having fulfilled Russia's condition on not expanding the alliance to the East, this will weaken the country and only increase the "aggression" from Moscow. However, 29.7% of Ukrainians are confident that such a decision, on the contrary, will weaken the "Russian threat".

At the same time, the overwhelming majority of respondents - 58.1% - believe that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy should not negotiate with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin without Western partners. Only 26.6% of Ukrainians support direct Russian-Ukrainian dialogue, calling it an effective way to achieve peace.

As for the direct course of Ukraine towards NATO and the EU, 67.1% of those polled approve of joining the European Union, while only 21.6% are against it. Through NATO, 59.2% of Ukrainians expressed their support; 28.1% of respondents do not want to join the alliance.

Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian army said that there were fewer Russian troops on the country's border.
