Jordanian police struggle to contain crowds outside Israeli embassy

Jordanian police are having difficulty containing protests at the Israeli Embassy in Amman, Arab News reports. Despite dozens of arrests and the use of tear gas on Thursday, the number of protesters has not decreased on the fifth day of protests.

Protesters shout slogans in support of Hamas, whose popularity among Jordanians is growing every day. “Oh Hamas! The Jordanian people are with you!” people shout.

Many Jordanians view the peace treaty with the Zionist entity as a betrayal and blame the government for inaction while residents of the Gaza Strip are dying.

The Jordanian authorities allow peaceful protests, but suppress any attempts to start unrest, enter the territory of the diplomatic mission or cross the border with the Palestinian Authority.
