Uzbekistan will expand interregional cooperation with China

Asia (bbabo.net), - Uzbekistan intends to expand interregional cooperation with the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) of China. This was reported by the press service of the Uzbek leader.

According to the press service, an agreement on this was reached at a meeting between the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the delegation of the XUAR of the People's Republic of China, led by the head of the region, Erkin Tuniyaz.

It is reported that the parties considered priority areas for further expansion of Uzbek-Chinese multifaceted cooperation, including the development of practical interaction between the regions of Uzbekistan and the XUAR.

There has been an increase in the republic's trade turnover with the XUAR, which currently accounts for about 10% of mutual trade between the countries.

The portfolio of investment projects with leading companies from the XUAR amounts to $3.5 billion and covers such areas as green energy and electrical engineering, the construction sector and the production of new types of building materials, metallurgy, infrastructure modernization and others.

A cultural exchange program is being actively implemented.

“A number of priority areas have been identified: innovative technologies, agriculture and water management, transport and logistics, banking and financial sector, education, traditional medicine,” the statement says.

Mirziyoyev noted the importance of further enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation with the XUAR and accelerating joint projects.

The parties also touched upon the topic of further development of humanitarian and tourism ties. Particular attention was paid to promoting the project for the construction of the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China railway.

A Chinese company will undertake the reconstruction of highways in Uzbekistan

Asia (bbabo.net), - The Chinese company “CITIC Construction” plans to participate in the reconstruction of the road in Uzbekistan. The Ministry of Transport of the Republic reports this.

“The CITIC Construction Company has expressed its desire to participate in the reconstruction of the Pungan-Namangan and Tashkent-Chinaz highways, as well as in the construction of new toll roads based on international experience and modern solutions,” the department said in a statement.

According to the head of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan, Ilhom Makhkamov, these roads must be built in a short time using modern technologies that meet international standards. He noted that special attention should be paid to reducing construction costs.

In turn, representatives of the Chinese company said that they are conducting research and will present project proposals that meet the necessary requirements in the coming days.
