Samsung overtakes Apple in smartphone sales in the first quarter of 2024

Asia (bbabo.net), - In the first quarter of 2024, 289.4 million smartphones were sold worldwide, and Samsung, as reported by the Turkish publication Sözcü, was able to overtake Apple by selling the most devices.

Global data firm IDC this week announced global smartphone shipments in the first quarter of 2024, confirming South Korea's leadership.

289.4 million smartphones for the period from January to March is an increase of 7.8% when compared with the same period in 2023. Samsung sold 60.1 million devices in the first quarter, overtaking Apple to become the world's largest smartphone seller. The South Korean company thus occupied 20.8% of the market, although Samsung sales in the first quarter decreased by 0.7% compared to January-March 2023.

Apple sales in the January-March period decreased by 9.6% to a total of 50.1 million devices. The company's market share decreased from 20.7% to 17.3%.
