The head of the Turkish Renewal Party, Ozturk Yilmaz, said that the country's participation in hostilities on the side of Ukraine against Russia is unrealistic. He told RIA Novosti about this.

“I do not admit the possibility of such a situation arising in which Turkey will need to send military to Ukraine. Because neither Russia nor NATO needs such a military conflict. I don’t think that NATO would attack Russia because of Ukraine, or that Russia would bring the situation to war, ”he said.

He added that Turkey will not be able to attack Russia, since there are "strategic relations" between the countries.

Earlier, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov commented on the statement of the Turkish Foreign Ministry about the impossibility of Ankara to remain on the sidelines in matters of Ukraine. Journalists asked Peskov if a positive role for Turkey in the alliance is possible for the Russian Federation.

Prior to this, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Ankara would not ignore its principles and close relations with Ukraine due to its extensive relations with Russia.
