In six regions of Russia, parades and processions on Victory Day were canceled

Ukraine (bbabo.net), - The authorities of six regions of Russia - Belgorod, Bryansk, Pskov, Ryazan and Kursk regions, as well as Crimea - refused to hold military parades and ceremonial marches of troops on Victory Day on May 9, so as not to provoke the enemy by gathering equipment and military personnel in cities.

Of the regions where a medium level of response has been introduced, the parade is going to be held only in Rostov-on-Don, as well as in Voronezh, but without fireworks and military equipment. In other regions of the Russian Federation, festive events will be held; restrictions will mainly affect only the processions of the “Immortal Regiment” campaign, which this year they decided to hold in alternative formats, TASS reports.

The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, explained on April 12 that this was done for security purposes. A week later, the government of Sevastopol announced that the Russian Ministry of Defense had decided not to hold a parade in the city, while the regional authorities promised to work on holding festive events in a different format.

Parades were also abandoned in the regions of the Central Federal District bordering Ukraine. In particular, the governor of the Kursk region, Roman Starovoyt, announced on April 19 that mass events on Victory Day in the region were cancelled. A similar decision was made by the head of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, who noted that the authorities would not create a concentration of military personnel and equipment in the city on the holiday. All these regions have a medium level of response.

The only region where the basic level of response was maintained and the military parade and fireworks were canceled was the Kaluga region. There, according to the head of the region, Vladislav Shapsha, only celebrations will be held at memorials and in recreation areas.

In the Kherson region, where martial law has been introduced, the authorities also decided not to hold mass events on Victory Day. Acting head of the region Vladimir Saldo noted that he believes that people will still go to the memorial sites themselves.

Decisions on holding military parades on Victory Day have not yet been made in the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics, as well as in the Zaporozhye region, where martial law is in effect. Also, a decision has not yet been made in the Bryansk region bordering Ukraine, where a medium level of response has been introduced.

Celebrations will take place as usual

In most regions of Russia, celebrations will take place as usual. The main military parade is planned to be held on May 9 on Red Square in Moscow, where, as reported by presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov, head of state Vladimir Putin will give a speech. On April 24, Peskov also noted that preparations for the parade were already underway and promised to inform in a timely manner what elements it would include. The parade is also planned to be held in St. Petersburg on Palace Square, preparations for it are already underway.

Among the regions where the average level of response operates, they decided to hold the parade in the Rostov region - there it will be held in the regional center and Novocherkassk. According to Governor Vasily Golubev, they decided to abandon part of the traditional program for Victory Day in the region, in particular, this year there will be no concert on Theater Square in Rostov-on-Don. In Voronezh, the regional authorities also decided not to refuse to hold the parade, but it will take place without the participation of military equipment, and there will be no fireworks.

In other regions of Russia, celebrations in honor of Victory Day will be held as usual. The only exception for everyone will be the “Immortal Regiment” event, the organizers of which this year decided to abandon the traditional in-person procession and proposed to hold it in other formats. The authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation reported that they offer residents to place portraits of their relatives - participants in the Great Patriotic War in the windows of apartments and cars, as well as online on the People's Memory website.

Let us remind you: on May 9, Victory Day is celebrated annually in Russia. On this day in 1945, the Act of Unconditional Surrender of Germany was signed, ending the Great Patriotic War. In Moscow, hero cities and cities where the headquarters of military districts, fleets, combined arms armies and the Caspian Flotilla are located, military parades are held with the participation of weapons and military equipment, as well as artillery salutes.
