Construction of a new railway station began in Mariupol

Ukraine, Conflict in Donbass (bbabo.net), - In the city of Mariupol of the Donetsk People's Republic, construction of a new railway station has begun, which is part of the concept of creating a large transport hub.

The DAN agency reports this, citing a statement by the director of the Unified Institute of Spatial Planning (UISP) Dina Sattarov.

“It is proposed to create a transport hub on the basis of the Mariupol railway station, which will include a new railway station, a bus station and a sea passenger port. Currently, construction of a new railway station building is underway as part of the first phase,” she said.

The director added that in accordance with the architectural and urban planning concept developed by the institute, at the first stage the transport hub will include a first class railway station with an estimated capacity of 1,150 passengers.

At the second stage, a bus station for 150 passengers and a vestibule will be built, which will become the central distribution core of the hub.

The project provides for the construction of a station area with canopies for organizing transfers on the “dry feet” principle, taxi parking and intercept parking.

At the third stage, it is proposed to include a marine passenger terminal for coastal communication by ships with a shallow draft with a capacity of 130 passengers per trip, as well as a concourse - an elevated pedestrian crossing over railway tracks with exits to platforms, which will also connect the entrance of the transport hub with the planned marine terminal.

Previously, bbabo.net reported that employees of the Mariupol sea trade port are rebuilding the infrastructure destroyed during the fighting on their own. Currently, restoration of the transformer substation has begun there.
