Russia - Two newest ships of the Black Sea Fleet entered the Mediterranean Sea

Russia (bbabo.net), - In August this year, two newest ships that entered the Russian Black Sea Fleet passed the Strait of Gibraltar and entered the Mediterranean Sea. This was announced by the head of the information support department of the Black Sea Fleet, Captain 2nd Rank Alexei Rulev.

A detachment of ships consisting of the Georgy Kurbatov mine defense ship and the Vsevolod Bobrov logistics support ship is performing a planned inter-fleet passage from the Baltic to the Black Sea. The Georgy Kurbatov mine defense combat ship, which became the third ship of Project 12700 in Sevastopol, entered the Black Sea Fleet in August 2021. At the same time, Vsevolod Bobrov joined the Black Sea Fleet. In August, the Andreevsky flag was raised on it.

“For the crews, this is the first inter-fleet passage, during which they will have to overcome more than 5 thousand nautical miles and conduct a number of ship exercises in accordance with their mission,” said Alexey Rulev.

Upon arrival in Sevastopol, both ships will carry out post-cruise maintenance and begin scheduled service.

From 2014 to 2019, the Black Sea Fleet was replenished with 30 warships and boats and 25 auxiliary vessels. During the same time, the Black Sea Fleet's naval aviation was renewed by 70 percent. As of May 2020, the Black Sea Fleet included about 280 vessels of various classes and purposes, including about 50 warships. Every year the Black Sea Fleet includes both new warships and support vessels.
