The commander-in-chief of the Swedish army, Mikael Buden, said that a dangerous situation had developed in Ukraine, for which it was necessary to prepare. He expressed this opinion in an interview with Dagens Nyheter.

“We have brought our readiness in line with the current situation. It is serious and alarming. Naturally, now we are doing more and are ready for faster action than usual. We are ready for different scenarios of the development of the situation, including in the immediate vicinity of our borders, ”explained the high-ranking military man.

Buden emphasized the strategic importance of the Baltic Sea and the island of Gotland for the Swedish authorities. According to him, the measures to ensure combat readiness on the island do not provoke an escalation of tensions, but demonstrate that Stockholm "is in the starting position."

Recently, Western media, as well as in Ukraine, have stated that Russia is allegedly preparing a "large-scale invasion" of Ukraine. In Russia, such allegations have been repeatedly rejected. So, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian Federation is taking certain actions to move its troops on its own territory and has the right to do so.
