Ukraine can win an air battle with Russia only with the support of Kiev from the latest US and NATO F-35 fighters, military expert Chris Osborne said. He wrote about this in an article for The National Interest.

"If it comes to fighting for air superiority, Russia will have the advantage if Ukraine is not supported by NATO and US F-35 Lightning II stealth fighters," Osborne wrote.

According to him, the Ukrainian Air Force is armed with only about 25 fighters, while all of them are unable to withstand the Russian fifth-generation Su-57 aircraft.

At the same time, the expert noted that without air support, the offensive of Russian ground forces to Ukraine would be complicated.

Earlier, Chris Osborne said that American troops would force Russia to wage a war on two fronts in the event of an "attack" by the Russian Federation on Ukraine. According to him, the Americans will be able to quickly move their forces to the Black Sea and support Ukraine in protecting its borders.

Also, the US Army is capable of organizing amphibious operations and missile strikes from the Black Sea coast.
