Lithuania will not comply with the requirements of the European Union agency for the control of external borders Frontex about the refusal of the forceful ousting of illegal migrants, said Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic Arnoldas Abramavičius, Delfi reports. According to him, an open border policy is impossible under current conditions.

“If we begin to deliver all detained illegal immigrants to checkpoints (checkpoints) so that they formally apply for asylum (as required in the EU), this will be an open border policy, which, due to the current situation, is impossible,” he announced Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Lithuania.

According to Abramavicius, Frontex provides purely symbolic assistance to Lithuania in protecting the borders of the republic during the influx of illegal immigrants from Belarus. He also noted that Vilnius is able to manage with its own resources in this situation.

“53 representatives of Frontex (on the territory of Lithuania) do not play a significant role if Lithuania does not unconditionally accept the requirements of the mission, then it may be suspended. But, probably, these will be the main consequences, ”emphasized Abramavičius.

Earlier in Lithuania, it was proposed to put forward counterclaims to Russia on security guarantees.
