Six more countries agreed on the prolongation of EU sanctions against Russia

The prolongation of EU economic sanctions against Russia have been supported by Montenegro, Albania, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Ukraine.

This is stated in the message of the European Council.

In this case, the EU noted that they were taking into account the decision of these countries and welcomed it.

"The candidates for membership in the EU, Albania and Montenegro, the countries of the free economic zone, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, as well as Ukraine align themselves with this declaration," - a statement said.

As noted, the above-mentioned countries take responsibility for enforcing the EU Council's decision on the prolongation of sanctions.

At the same time, it should be noted that Serbia and Macedonia, which also have the status of candidate countries, did not join the sanctions. Moreover, Serbia has repeatedly stated that it would not support sanctions against Russia in any case.

On June 22 the EU Council adopted a decision to extend sanctions against Russia until January 31, 2016. Restrictive measures relate to such sectors of the economy, as: finance, energy, and military sector.
