World's oldest woman turns 119

A Japanese woman named Kane Tanaka has celebrated her 119th birthday, according to the Sankei Shimbun newspaper. According to the Guinness Book of Records, she is the oldest woman in the world.

Resident of Fukuoka city was born in 1903. The girl was raised together with eight brothers and sisters. Moreover, she was the seventh child in the family.

At the age of 19, Kane Tanaka got married. Her husband and eldest son went off to war in 1937. Despite the difficulties that fell to the lot of Tanaka-san, she continued to feed her family on her own. She was greatly helped in this by working in a shop selling udon noodles.

According to journalists, Tanaka-san is currently living in a nursing home. She loves to treat herself to chocolate and sodas.
