The Turkish Foreign Ministry demanded that those responsible for the attack on a Muslim cemetery in Germany be caught, brought to trial and punished, the ministry said in a statement to Trend with reference to Anadolu. The ministry expressed regret in connection with the attack on a Muslim cemetery in the city of Iserlohn in western Germany and called the attack another manifestation of Islamophobia growing in Europe.

"Turkey hopes that the perpetrators of this terrible crime will be identified, brought to justice and punished. Ankara is in favor of taking the necessary measures to prevent such incidents," the Foreign Ministry said.

On New Year's Eve, a Muslim cemetery was desecrated in the city of Iserlohn, North Rhine-Westphalia. Some of the gravestones were smashed, some were painted with Nazi symbols.
