Employees of the Bureau for Reintegration report that, according to the database of the Public Services Agency (ASP), 347,251 residents are registered in the State Population Register, living on the left bank of the Dniester and in the municipality of Bender, of which 338,008 have citizenship of the Republic of Moldova, including 313 006 have passports of a citizen of the Republic of Moldova and 281,498 identity cards, according to zdg.md.
Over the past 10 years, the largest number of applications for biometric passports were in 2018 (37,560) and for identity cards in 2019 (20,309), compared with 12,143 passports and 14,879 in 2013, and In 2020, due to the restrictions imposed by Tiraspol on free movement, the number of applications decreased significantly (17 391 passports and 9673 "buletinas").
The Bureau also notes that as a result of the simplification of the acquisition procedure by recognizing the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova for persons born in the country and who have reached the age of 18 (legislative changes that came into force on 19.04.2018), in the period from 19 April 2018 to 30 November In 2021, 24,055 people were recognized as citizens of the country, of which 16,367 (about 68%) are residents of the left bank of the Dniester and the mun. Bender. This is a procedure when the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova is recognized from the date of submission of an application in writing and on the basis of civil status documents confirming birth on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
In the period from January to November 2021, residents of the region were issued 7348 civil status documents issued as a result of certification (in 2020 - 5570).
