Moldova (bbabo.net), - The revenues of the Customs Service to the state budget last year amounted to more than 28.5 billion lei, which is 26.8% more compared to 2020 and 24.9% compared to 2019, by MOLDPRES.
As specified in the department, in December, the Customs Service collected 3.062 billion lei in the state budget, which is 27.2% more compared to revenues for the same period in 2020.
VAT accounts for the largest share, followed by excise and customs duties.
In terms of categories of goods subject to excise taxes, the oil sector remains the largest taxpayer with a share of about 43%, followed by tobacco products with 30.7% and cars, which account for more than 19% of the total amount of excise taxes.
The Customs Union clarified that revenue growth is mainly determined by improved customs control, reliable declaration of goods by bona fide economic agents, as well as progress achieved in the fight against fraud. Another factor influencing the increase in budget revenues are measures to simplify customs procedures and facilitate international trade, such as electronic declaration, AEO (Authorized Economic Operator), PVD (Home Customs Clearance) or an approved exporter.
