According to the diplomat, Beijing welcomes the extension of START III and considers this step very important, but this is not enough.

“We do not believe that this is enough, because even after the extension of START III, the United States and Russia together possess more than 90% of the nuclear weapons existing on Earth,” Tsun said.

He also added that issues such as the latest technology, missile defense, space and artificial intelligence need to be included in the agenda of the nuclear five process, since strategic stability is not limited to nuclear weapons.

On January 3, the leaders of Russia, China, Great Britain, the United States and France issued a joint statement on the need to prevent nuclear war and the inadmissibility of an arms race.

Later, the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, said that after the joint declaration of the nuclear powers, it was necessary to hold a summit.
