The United States will continue to provide military assistance to Ukraine

White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the United States will continue to provide military assistance to Ukraine in the coming months to strengthen the country's defenses. She announced this at a briefing, reports TASS.

“We continue to provide assistance to Ukraine on the issue of defense. We are providing assistance and will continue to do so in the weeks and months ahead, ”she said.

Earlier, Psaki said that the United States intends to raise issues of invasion of neighboring countries and the use of chemical weapons abroad in negotiations with Russia.

The United States does not intend to answer point by point to Russian security proposals, she said. She added that US President Joe Biden made it clear that progress could be made on some issues, but not on a number of others.

On January 4, NATO confirmed that negotiations with Russia on security guarantees will take place on January 12, 2022. The alliance noted that "the dialogue with Russia should be conducted on the basis of reciprocity, to respond to NATO's concerns about Russian actions."

On December 15, the Russian Foreign Ministry of Russia handed over to the American side drafts of an agreement between Russia and the United States on security guarantees and an agreement on measures to ensure the security of the Russian Federation and the NATO member states. The document, in particular, states that the United States should not create military bases in the territories of the former USSR countries that are not members of NATO.
