Kremlin publishes Pashinyan's statement on CSTO decision on peacekeepers in Kazakhstan

The official website of the President of Russia published a statement by the Chairman of the CSTO Collective Security Council and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan on the decision made by the organization to send the Collective Peacekeeping Forces to Kazakhstan.

In Kazakhstan, protests continue, which began on January 2 in the city of Zhanaozen, Mangistau region, after the price per liter of liquefied gas increased to 120 tenge (about 21 rubles). Before that, the price for a liter of gas was 60 tenge. Two days later, clashes between protesters and the police and the military began in Almaty and a number of other cities. Clashes also took place in Aktobe, Taraz, Aktau and other settlements.

Earlier, Pashinyan posted a corresponding entry on his Facebook page. It reported that "in connection with the appeal of the President of Kazakhstan, he decided to send the collective peacekeeping forces of the CSTO to the republic in order to stabilize and normalize the situation."
