Lukashenko spoke about the transfer of CSTO peacekeepers to Kazakhstan

Members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) negotiated all night on the transfer of peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan. This was stated by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, a fragment of his speech published by the Telegram channel "Pool of the First".

“All night long, the heads of the CSTO states were in dialogue. There must be consensus when making decisions. The decision was made at night. We will create reserves. If you need to re-roll, then we will re-roll. And all night long the preparation of the peacekeeping forces, the CSTO troops, which are intended for this, went on. I asked [Russian President Vladimir] Putin to present the planes for this. We need to transfer equipment and so on, ”Lukashenka said.

According to him, the heads of the CSTO member states agreed that they should conduct a peacekeeping mission in Kazakhstan, “to help people”.

“Therefore, now there is a transfer of troops there by echelons, from Moscow. Our guys will fly from Minsk. There were enough trainings, ”the Belarusian president explained.

Protests in Kazakhstan began on January 2 due to an increase in the price for a liter of liquefied gas to 120 tenge (about 21 rubles). Previously, the price for a liter of gas was 60 tenge. Two days later, clashes between protesters and the police and the military began in Almaty and a number of other cities.

On January 5, amid the pogroms in Kazakhstan, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev appealed to the heads of the CSTO states with a request to help Kazakhstan overcome "this terrorist threat."

The Russian Foreign Ministry supported the adoption of urgent measures in Kazakhstan, calling the events in the country "an attempt to undermine the security and integrity of the state, inspired from the outside."
