Tokayev: Constitutional order has basically been restored in all regions of the country

Constitutional order has basically been restored in all regions of Kazakhstan, and local authorities are in control of the situation. This was stated by President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev following a meeting of the counter-terrorism headquarters.

According to him, the anti-terrorist operation continues, the forces of law and order are carrying out intense work. However, terrorists continue to use weapons and damage property of citizens. Therefore, Tokayev stressed, counter-terrorist actions should be continued until the complete destruction of the militants, TASS reports, referring to the press service of the head of state.

At the meeting, the President of Kazakhstan was informed about the arrival of the CSTO peacekeepers. Tokayev also issued a number of orders to further stabilize the situation in the country.

Let us remind you that riots in Kazakhstan began in the first days of the new year. A state of emergency was introduced in Kazakhstan for two weeks. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev dismissed the government and headed the republic’s Security Council. He turned to his CSTO partners with a request to help overcome the terrorist threat. The Collective Security Treaty Organization has decided to send CSTO peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan.

The events currently taking place in Kazakhstan pose a real threat to the security of the republic, its stability and the territorial integrity of the state. This statement was made by the Secretary General of the CSTO Stanislav Zas. Peacekeepers, according to the Secretary General of the Organization, were needed to "minimize and localize threats there."
