Turkey launches production of its own fighters

Turkey will start producing its own combat aircraft in 2023. These plans were announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the ceremony of "opening and promoting national technologies and new investments" in Ankara, TRT World reported. For the production of the fighter, which was named Turkish Fighter or TF-X, 16 defense plants will operate in the aerospace industrial zone of the capital.

“It will make its first flight in 2025 and will take its place in the skies with our air force in 2029 after passing tests and all qualification processes,” Erdogan said.

The engineering center of the national fighter aircraft project Milli Muharip Uçak will employ 2,300 qualified specialists. The center building covers an area of 65 thousand square meters. The state has invested 220 million Turkish lira or 16 million US dollars in its construction. In addition to the TF-X, the Hürjet jet trainer is currently under development, with a prototype expected to be ready by March 2023.
