On Wednesday, 14 October, during the debate on the situation in Ukraine, the European Parliament (EP) expressed support for Ukraine and urged to maintain sanctions against Russia to the full implementation of the Minsk agreements.
"I am absolutely sure that any signals on the possibility of easing or lifting of sanctions are too premature. The Kremlin will perceive it only as our weakness. Yesterday ceasefire was violated. One Ukrainian soldier was killed. The silence is very fragile," – said a spokesman of political group Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, Petras Aushtrevichus. He welcomed the recent meeting in Norman format, but said that Russia is trying to conduct the local elections in Donbas."
In turn, the representative of the political group of "green", Rebecca Harms, said that until we see significant changes in the Donbas the lift of sanctions against Russia is impossible.
