The Danish court sent to jail the former head of the military intelligence of the kingdom Lars Findsen in the case of the leak of classified information. According to dr.dk, he was arrested in December last year, but it became known about this only now.

According to media reports, the former head of the special service was under surveillance for a long time, and his telephone conversations were tapped.

Particularly piquant to the case is the fact that Findsen was responsible for the security of the kingdom for two decades, first as head of the Police Intelligence Service, then as head of a department in the Ministry of Defense and head of military intelligence. It was he who made the decisions about wiretapping suspects.

But in the end Findsen himself became the subject of an investigation. In 2020, the independent reviewer listed a number of serious concerns about the work of military intelligence. The authorities suspected that the secret service was illegally collecting and transmitting data about the Danes to the United States. As a result, several high-ranking intelligence officials, including Findsen, were removed from their posts. Information about the cooperation of the intelligence services of Denmark and the United States (surveillance was carried out not only for the Danes, but also for leading European politicians, including Angela Merkel) leaked to the media, and then a scandal broke out, which became the starting point in the investigation against Findsen. It lasted for over a year, until in December 2021 he was arrested in complete secrecy.

It is not known what the former head of military intelligence is accused of. The hearings are being held behind closed doors. The media were only able to find out that on January 9, the defendant was decided to be taken into custody.
