In the video, a Microsoft engineer completely disassembles the laptop using a set of tools from iFixit, comments in detail on each step and talks about the internal structure of the gadget. The instruction is intended to help users to independently repair the device and replace failed components. An official guide can save you from mistakes and damage to your laptop.

For a long time, Microsoft laptops were not at all suitable for repair due to the abundance of glue in the internal structure. In 2017, Microsoft Surface scored a 0 out of 10 on the iFixit maintainability scale. After pressure from shareholders, the IT giant promised to resolve the issue of repairing its gadgets and at the end of last year, together with iFixit, presented a set of tools and components for repairing some Surface laptops.

Also in November 2021, Microsoft released the affordable Surface SE laptop for schools and educational institutions. At the presentation, representatives of the company announced a high level of maintainability of the gadget. It is for this device that a video instruction with parsing was released. Primarily due to the fact that the use of the gadget in schools increases the likelihood of breakdown and self-replacement of components can be cheaper and faster for educational organizations than ordering new equipment and waiting for delivery.
