Tesla removed from the site the message about the launch of Cybertruck production in 2022

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said the company will unveil an updated product roadmap on January 26. This was preceded by the removal from the manufacturer's website of information that the Cybertruck electric pickup truck will be assembled this year.

Tesla introduced the Cybertruck in 2019, when the company promised that the production of electric vehicles would begin at the end of 2021. In August last year, the company announced that the production of electric cars will start in 2022. Earlier, Tesla vice president of engineering Lars Moravi said that the Cybertruck is in the final stages of developing the car's architecture.

The Edmunds portal writes that on the Tesla website it was possible to select the Cybertruck configuration before the start of production in 2022, at the moment the date has disappeared. The company said that the electric pickup will come in different trim levels. Musk said the four-motor electric car would be the first to go into production.

The Verge notes that the Cybertruck release date is being pushed back due to a number of factors, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the global semiconductor shortage. Also, this could be affected by difficulties with the design of the car - we are talking about a long wiper, which is necessary for a large windshield of an electric pickup truck. In 2019, Tesla announced the development of an electromagnetic windshield wiper.

Verge reports that a Cybertruck prototype has been spotted at the test site, which has a less angular front end and a different set of headlights.

Production of the Cybertruck may not be Tesla's top priority, as the Model 3 outsold the Renault Cleo and Volkswagen Golf last September in monthly sales. In 2021, the company delivered almost 1 million electric vehicles, which is 87% more than in 2020.

Cybertruck will be produced at the Tesla gigafactory in Texas. More than $1 billion has been invested in the company.
