NVIDIA: Fortnite will be available on iOS via GeForce NOW

Epic Game and NVIDIA are launching a limited-time closed beta of the shareware game Fortnite on mobile devices. But on iOS (and most likely iPadOS), the game will be available through the browser, you will need to go to the GeForce NOW website. For Android, there is an official application of the service.

Epic Games didn't like the "robbing 30 percent" of all in-game purchases by iOS users. For the same reason, Epic Games left Steam and created its own game store. But in the case of iOS and the App Store, they went more interesting, adding the ability to buy in-game currency bypassing Apple's commission. After that, the game was removed from the App Store.

This was followed by mutual accusations of dishonesty and greed, and later everything resulted in a lawsuit between Epic Games and the owner of the App Store. The process revealed a lot of things that both companies didn't advertise much, and ended up satisfying 9 out of 10 Apple requirements. The tenth requirement was rejected, which means that developers can embed links to third-party payment services to bypass the App Store payment system. But even now this requirement is frozen due to appeals filed by both companies.

A similar situation happened with Epic Games and with Google, but so far there is no decision on their process.

Registration is required to participate in the beta, and you must also be a GeForce NOW user. Applications are accepted from January 13th. The testing itself should give NVIDIA an understanding of how well its servers will cope with the load and how convenient the management is. As NVIDIA clarified, the game will be controlled through the touch screen:

"While GeForce NOW library PC games are best played on mobile devices with a gamepad, the introduction of touch controls developed by the GeForce NOW team will offer players more options starting with Fortnite."

The date of the full release of the shareware game in the gaming cloud service NVIDIA is unknown.

And one more detail: it is not known whether the beta test will be available for users from Russia. But there is a possibility that this will be announced later. At the time of writing, information about the possibility to apply for participation in the test on the intermediary site GFN.ru was not found.
