Named a way to reduce the number of calls from scammers

Professor of the Department "Security in the Digital World" MSTU. Bauman Vitaly Vekhov told in an interview with Sputnik radio how to reduce the number of calls from scammers.

According to him, first of all, scammers and advertising service providers call people whose phone numbers are in poorly protected or open databases.

“If a person is often called with advertising or intrusive offers, this means that he is not careful with his personal data,” the expert said.

In this regard, he advised, unless absolutely necessary, not to share his real personal information with employees of various companies. For example, when issuing discount cards in supermarkets.

As Vekhov noted, in such cases it is better to provide fake data about yourself and your birthday.

“And those who enter real data and a real phone number are more likely to be scammed and various intrusive advertising,” he continued.

The professor also recommended not to publish their data on social networks, even in closed groups. In addition, when leaving your personal account in the browser, you should delete the password or do not check the “remember” box when logging in so as not to save any login data. It is also necessary to clear the browser history, Vekhov pointed out.

“Yes, it’s inconvenient, but it saves you from scammers to some extent,” he said.

And useful information on how to protect the data of your bank or SIM card can be found in the contracts for these products, the expert added.
