Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones get a new Pure Mode in MIUI

In September 2021, Xiaomi began recruiting beta testers for its new Pure Mode, but the company hasn't released development progress since then. Pure Mode was supposed to be cancelled, however, Xiaomi users in China have confirmed that Xiaomi has already silently implemented the Pure Mode feature on their smartphones since January 15, 2022.

This feature helps users protect themselves from malicious applications. The company says that due to the open nature of Android, users can easily fall prey to attacks through malicious apps. The smartphone maker explains that 40% of apps installed by MIUI users have never passed its information security audit. In addition, 10% of these applications are considered potentially dangerous.

Users will not be able to install apps that have not yet been verified or deemed dangerous by Xiaomi. If you trust an unverified app, you can continue installing it after you go to Settings Pure Mode Allow this installation. If you want to disable Pure Mode, then the steps are easy too. Once you enter the MIUI app installer, at the top right corner, click Settings Pure Mode, and then click the Power Off Now button to disable Pure Mode.

In general, Pure Mode has 4 functions:

Virus detection: to determine if there are any viruses, trojans or malware hidden in the application;

Privacy Detection: To determine if an application is unknowingly collecting user's personal data without consent;

Compatibility detection: to determine if the application is compatible with the phone on which it will be installed in order to prevent crashes or errors from occurring;

Manual Verification: Apps allowed in Pure Mode are manually verified, installed, and tested by real users to confirm their compatibility and safety.
