The largest Russian cellular operators raise prices for archival tariffs

The publication "Kommersant" spoke about the upcoming increase in prices for outdated archival tariffs from the largest Russian mobile operators.

MTS was the first to take such a step - in early January, the operator informed subscribers about an increase in the cost of tariffs by 60 rubles, leaving the current set of services unchanged. According to information from three sources in the communications market at once, cited by Kommersant, following MTS, VimpelCom (Beeline trademark), MegaFon and Tele2 will also increase prices.

VimpelCom's press service confirmed to journalists the possibility of "changes in prices" for a part of archived tariffs. The operator currently has about 40 archival tariffs costing from 650 to 2.5 thousand rubles per month. MegaFon and Tele2 declined to comment on the message.

Among the main reasons for price increases are inflation and an increase in mobile traffic. As noted in MTS, at the time of the price increase, subscribers of archival tariffs were given a choice - to keep the tariff or switch to another one. MTS explained:

The change in the cost of communication services is associated with an increase in the cost of maintaining and building networks, in particular, equipment and its delivery, an increase in prices for electricity and services purchased from external contractors.”
