Roskomnadzor entered the iHerb website into the register of prohibited

The iHerb online store, ru.iherb.com, has been added to the register of Roskomnadzor sites banned in Russia, Vedomosti reports. The decision was taken by the Central District Court of Barnaul. The court noted that information on the sale of specialized food products (dietary supplements and sports nutrition) was recognized as prohibited in Russia, and such information is posted on the marketplace website. The sale of dietary supplements is one of the main areas of the company's work.

The court decision notes that the iHerb website contains information that is aimed at selling products whose quality and labeling do not comply with the technical regulations of the EAEU - unregistered medicines under the guise of dietary supplements. The lawsuit was filed by the Altai regional public organization of consumers "People's Control" - on its basis, the prosecutor's office asked the court to restrict information about dietary supplements on the company's Russian-language website.

iHerb filed an appeal against the decision of the Barnaul District Court, but in December the Altai Regional Court rejected it, thereby fully confirming the decision of the lower court. The legal representative of iHerb LLC, partner and head of the Moscow practice of Dentons Roman Zaitsev, in a commentary to Vedomosti, said that the company does not agree with the decisions of the first and appeal instances and will appeal them in the prescribed manner.

Access to the site is currently unrestricted. In Roskomnadzor, Vedomosti was informed that the authority sent a request to the owner of the resource to remove prohibited materials. According to a representative of the department, the owner notified Roskomnadzor that he removed the prohibited information, and an audit is now underway.
