Twitter protests Germany's decision to hand over suspects' data

The social network Twitter appealed to the administrative court of German Cologne, protesting the demand of the federal criminal department of Germany to transfer the data of suspects, reports Der Spiegel.

As the representative of the social network noted, within the framework of the new law, the authorities provide for "significant infringement on the basic rights of citizens."

Since February 1, amendments to the legislation have been in force in Germany, according to which the federal criminal department of Germany must receive data from suspected criminals.

Earlier, German Justice Minister Marco Buschmann said that the Telegram messenger violates German law, for which he faces millions in fines. He explained that the service had to appoint a contact person in Germany and create an easily identifiable way to report illegal content.
