The scientist told how the world's population will change in 30 years

Professor Laurent Genzbittel, head of the digital agriculture laboratory at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech), believes that the population of our planet will increase to 9 billion people in less than 30 years. The words of the scientist are quoted by RIA Novosti.

“By 2050, humanity will need to double its protein production. According to forecasts, the number of people by 2050 will reach 9 billion, and more protein will be needed for nutrition,” he said.

He clarified that this primarily concerns proteins of plant origin, the source of which differs depending on the region. So, in Europe they mainly eat wheat and lentils, in South Asia or Africa - rice and chickpeas. The latter is the main source of protein in these regions.

Previously, scientists named the plant to save humanity in the event of a disaster. According to experts, this crop will be able to feed more than 100 million people in a warmer climate.
