Cybercat kits will turn the Tesla Cybertruck into a boat

The delay in launching Tesla Cybertruck electric pickups hasn't discouraged those developing accessories for the vehicle.

The source discovered an interesting project of this kind - a Cybercat kit that turns a pickup truck into a catamaran. The impetus for the development was the approval of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who said that the Cybertruck pickup truck will be able to maintain buoyancy for some time. The practical utility of this possibility is limited by the speed that rotating wheels can give to such a watercraft, and it is very small.

Another thing is the Cybercat kit. It includes up to five 50 kW outboard motors, which are planned to be powered by the Cybertruck battery pack. Combined with the Cybertruck's adaptive air suspension, this design can turn a pickup truck into an amphibious one. When the car is in the water, the electric outboard motors and pontoons lower and the wheels are pulled closer to the body. In shallow water or near a pier, wheel rotation is used for greater maneuverability.

There is no working prototype yet, but the developers are counting on a top speed of over 40 km/h and a range of 80 to 185 km, depending on the speed. The estimated price of the kit is between $22,900 and $32,900, depending on the number of outboard motors.

The company also plans to offer a hydrofoil variant of the kit, which will allow for higher speed and efficiency. This option will be about $10,000 more expensive.
