The thematic portal Naavtotrasse has published a long note, which presents high-quality images and details about the first KAMAZ crossover called the Battleship.

The company decided to enter this market because the category of low-cost crossovers continues to gain popularity. A partner in the creation of the KAMAZ Linkor model can be the Chinese automobile manufacturer BAIC, which has been producing crossovers for a long time.

The BAIC line includes the Beijing X7 model, which can serve as a prototype for KAMAZ Linkor. In China, a car costs about 1.37 million rubles in terms of our money. It is expected that KAMAZ Linkor will receive the same platform and also copy some design elements. This approach is also used by other companies: it has recently become known that the new generation Mitsubishi ASX will be similar to the Renault Captur (in Russia, the model is called Renault Kaptur), with which the Japanese model will share both the platform and the technical part.

Externally, the Beijing X7 and KAMAZ Linkor will be similar, but the interior of the new crossover will resemble models from Mercedes-Benz. The interior of the first KAMAZ crossover will feature a dual display on the front panel, combining screens with a diagonal of 10.25 or 12.3 inches. There will also be a third screen to control the climate control system. In the basic trim levels, the equipment will be simpler.

KAMAZ Linkor should receive a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with 188 hp. with 275 Nm of torque, which will work with a 7-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual transmission. The Russian novelty, like the Chinese one, will be based on MacPherson struts and rear multi-link suspension.

According to preliminary data, the cost of the Russian model will be about 1.3 million rubles.
