The Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus blocked the TJournal portal [Updated 15:20 Moscow time]

According to the TJournal (TJ) portal, the tjournal.ru domain has ceased to be opened in the Republic of Belarus. Initially, this problem was discovered by users of the resource. After the information about the blocking was confirmed by the Ministry of Information of the country. The portal appeared on the blocking list on February 9 based on the decision of the Ministry of Information.

TJ does not know the reason for the block. The editors sent a request to the Ministry of Information of Belarus. - Sergey Zvezda, editor-in-chief of TJ.

The reasons for the blocking are not yet clear. But, probably, such actions on the part of the department may be associated with the regular publication of materials on the resource with detailed coverage of events taking place in the Republic of Belarus. For example, just the other day, Flagshtok published the news that a military base was being created 10 km from Gomel. Half an hour after the publication, the Ministry of Information blocked the website of the publication on the territory of the Republic of Belarus. The same news was covered by users on the TJ portal.

In addition, three days before the blocking, a high-profile article appeared on the portal - “Death Squadrons” and the scandalous resignation of the head of the KGB. What was the year 2000 in the history of Belarus. The portal regularly publishes stories of arrested political activists in the Republic of Belarus, including for comments under posts about police representatives.

According to TJ's own data, users from the Republic of Belarus rank third after Russia and Ukraine in terms of attendance. They are confirmed by information from the Similarweb service, according to which the share of users from the Republic of Belarus is 4.54%. Russia accounts for 66.25% of users, Ukraine - 9.22%.

[Updated 14:45 Moscow time] TJ's editors could not find a mention of the portal on the website of the Ministry of Information. It is not listed in the register of extremist materials.

[Updated 14:50 Moscow time] Judging by the messages of users in social networks, not all operators in the Republic of Belarus have blocked the portal (perhaps not yet). Messages about blocking come from MTS and Beltelecom subscribers. When I try to open the site, I get the following message:

Access to the information resource is limited on the basis of the decision of the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus, adopted in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On Mass Media"

[Updated 15:20 Moscow time] Revision a turned to the developer from the Republic of Belarus Ivan Sparrow, the founder of the Sparrow Code Telegram channel. He checked the site. Operator A1 blocks access to the desktop version, but not yet to the mobile one. According to him, if this is a block, and not an error, then everything usually starts like that. The mobile version of the site will be blocked later.

Commenting on the absence of TJ in the lists of the Ministry of Information, Ivan indicated that this is not a prerequisite for blocking. In addition, the portal can be blocked now, and the corresponding order will be issued the next day or later.

So far, this is all that has been installed. The material is updated as new information becomes available.
