CalDigit TS4 docking station configuration includes 18 ports

CalDigit introduced the Thunderbolt Station 4 or TS4 docking station. Its configuration includes 18 ports. This is more than is usually the case with such devices. What's more, the TS4's 18 ports include a full-size DisplayPort 1.4 connector, which is rare. Meanwhile, its presence eliminates the need to use an adapter. Another advantage is the ability to provide power to very demanding laptops. The dock is capable of delivering 98 watts.

The docking station is equipped with a 2.5GbE port. It's claimed to be the fastest network port you'll find on Thunderbolt 4 docks. Of course, the 2.5GbE port is backwards compatible with 1GbE devices, but its potential is only unlocked when connected to 2.5GbE devices.

Among the eight USB ports, five are connected to USB-A connectors, three are connected to USB-C connectors. One of the latter provides power up to 20W, which allows it to be used to quickly charge devices. All USB ports except the two USB-A ports on the back of the TS4 provide charging for devices connected to the TS4, even if the dock itself is not connected to the host. All ports support 10 Gbps. As for the Thunderbolt 4 (40 Gb / s) ports, there are three of them. One of them is used to connect to the host, and the remaining ports can be used to add monitors, SSDs, and other devices.

Windows users can connect one monitor up to 8K resolution to the dock, while macOS users can connect one 6K resolution monitor at 60Hz. With a dual monitor connection, Windows users can connect up to two 4K x 60Hz monitors, and macOS users on the M1 Pro or M1 Max can connect up to two 6K x 60Hz monitors. M1 computers do not support dual monitors.

Sales of TS4 will begin in mid-March at a price of 330 euros.
