Microsoft has updated Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 and Windows 11

Microsoft has released a large batch of cumulative updates for its operating system - as part of the traditional monthly "updates on Tuesdays" (Patch Tuesday). Updates are offered for Windows 11, Windows 10, and even Windows 8.1 with Windows 7.

As Microsoft itself notes, for the first time in 5 years, there are no fixes for critical vulnerabilities in the release of Patch Tuesday updates. A total of 70 vulnerabilities were closed and none of them were classified as "Critical". In addition to the standard set of affected products—Windows, Office, SharePoint, Visual Studio, .NET—the updates in this release also affect Microsoft Teams, PowerBI, SQL Server, Dynamics 365 on-premise, and Azure Data Explorer.

The update for Windows 11 was released under the number KB5010386, for Windows 10 (versions 20H2, 21H1 and 21H2) - KB5010342, Windows 8.1 - KB5010419, Windows 7 - KB5010404.

As a reminder, support for Windows 8.1 will continue until early 2023, while free support for Windows 7 is no longer available. Microsoft ended support for the Windows 7 operating system two years ago on January 14, 2020. For corporate users, Microsoft offers paid extended support for Windows 7. They can receive security updates as part of the Windows 7 ESU program (Extended Security Updates, extended security updates) until January 2023. In 2021, the price of this service has increased to $50 per computer, and in 2022 to $100 per computer.
