Google to start rolling out new Gmail design for Workspace users on February 8

Google is getting ready to start rolling out a new Gmail design for Workspace customers. The update will combine email client, video conferencing, corporate messenger and Spaces group discussion platform into Gmail.

The test mode will be available to users starting February 8, 2022. Users will be prompted to try the new interface, but at any time it will be possible to refuse and return to the old design. In April 2022, all users will receive a platform update by default, the ability to roll back to the old design will not be removed. By the end of the second quarter of this year, the new interface will become the standard for Gmail within the Workspace, and it will no longer be possible to return to the old design. Along with this, a simplified form of navigation will appear in the corporate messenger Google Chat.

The company noted that the new interface will help you quickly navigate the workspace and switch between applications without having to open multiple tabs. We also combined the search system - you can specify a query, and Google will find matches in all connected working applications.

It's important to note that admins have no control over changes, and the upgrade will be available on all plans except Google Workspace Essentials.
