MegaFon, together with ElgaUgol, launched a Private LTE network at the Elga coking coal deposit.
On an area of more than 10,000 hectares, LTE base stations were built, operating in four bands - 800, 900, 1800 and 2600 MHz. As a result, the field will be guaranteed high data transfer rates, wide coverage between remote facilities of production sites and signal penetration into the premises.
Private LTE will provide an environment for transport management using modern dispatching systems. For example, the transmission of telemetry from mining equipment will allow you to track the performance of machines and equipment. IoT sensors and video cameras on excavators and dump trucks will help to monitor tire pressure, the amount of fuel in the tanks, the load level of vehicles during downtime, as well as driver fatigue, dangerous proximity of vehicles and other important points.
“For an enterprise that operates in the difficult climatic conditions of the Far North, reducing the number of processes with the direct participation of people is a paramount task. Our own sustainable network automates such processes as much as possible, which will increase the level of industrial security, efficiency and labor safety. Also, the private network will provide stable and high-quality communication for specialists who work at the field - today more than two thousand people stay in touch with their families and loved ones," said Alexander Isaev, General Director of ElgaUgol Management Company LLC.
Also, on the basis of a private network, a number of projects were implemented using augmented and virtual reality technologies to train personnel to work with production lines, conduct safety briefings for admission to hazardous production facilities.
“MegaFon's private LTE network allows major industrial players to solve two problems at once: create a high-quality data transmission channel and organize a secure technological ecosystem. The successful launch of Private LTE at the largest coal deposit in Yakutia will help our partner in the digitalization of complex production processes related to the geolocation of production equipment and personnel, monitoring and control of energy supply, and will also allow the introduction of a video surveillance system where it was previously impossible to implement, ”said Natalia Taldykina, Corporate Business Development Director at MegaFon.
